ADJECTIVES COMPARATIVES- LITERACY 5A Y 5B

Good morning,

Today, we are going to continue studying adjectives but today we will study COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES.


1.  write the title: COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES

2.  copy on your notebook

We can make more complicated structures by comparing one thing or animal with another.
To form comparative adjectives
1.     Add ‘er’ or ‘r’ onto the end.  small: smaller, nice: nicer  
Ex: a horse is smaller than a dragon.
2.    Doubling letters like in big: bigger BIG (consonant-vowel-consonant). Ex: a troll is bigger than a house.
3.    Add “more” when adjectives have 3 or more syllables: beautiful: more beautiful (there are some adjectives with 2 syllables that also add more).
Ex: Unicorns are more beautiful than horses.
4.    Irregular comparatives: good: better. Bad: worse

The unicorn was one of the rarest, most magical, and most beloved of all mythical beasts. It looked rather like a white horse or deer, but with a straight horn longer than its head, the beard of a goat and the tail of a lion.  It is said that unicorns gallop faster than horses and it is thought they are more intelligent than humans.
