WEDNESDAY SCIENCE 5A y 5B


Según vuestro horario, hoy solo tendría SCIENCE 5A. Al igual que la semana pasada, pondré hoy el trabajo de 5B también para que vayamos a la vez y el viernes no pondré nada.

 Today you can read page 95 of your book. If you don't know the meaning of a word, use the dictionary. Then you can do exercise 1 and 2.

Archimedes was a Greek mathematician, philosopher and inventor. He invented the lever and the pulley. He invented the hydraulic screw, which is used for raising water from a lower level to a higher level. He also discovered the concept of density.


Isaac Newton was an English scientist. He discovered the laws of gravity and motion. This discovery completely changed scientific understanding of the world around us. Isaac Newton also made discoveries in mathematics and invented a type of telescope.

Ada Lovelace was an English mathematician and writer. She was born in 1815. She was the first person to discover how to create a computer programme. She wrote a book about programming which describes how codes could be used with letters, symbols and numbers to make computers work. She is considered the first ever computer programmer.

Louis Pasteur was a French chemist and biologist. He discovered how germs cause disease. This discovery completely changed healthcare. Louis Pasteur helped to create antiseptics and vaccinations to prevent diseases. He also discovered that food went bad because of contamination from bacteria. He invented a method called pasteurization which kills bacteria in food.

Thomas Edison was an American businessman and inventor. He invented many different things. One of his first inventions was a phonograph. He invented the first commercial electric light bulb, the telegraph, some types of batteries, and one of the earliest cameras to make moving pictures.

Marie Curie was born in Poland but lived most of her life in France. She was a physicist and chemist and one of the most famous scientists that ever lived. With her husband, who was also a scientist, she discovered radium and polonium. She also discovered that uranium was radioactive.
